EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Daniel Jones is out for at least two weeks with a sprained ankle. Tyrod Taylor suffered a concussion Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs and could miss next week’s game.
That means it will be Mike Glennon making his first start for the New York Giants (1-2) when they host the Chicago Bears (2-1) at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.
Glennon’s Task
Glennon, who has not started a game since 2017, has his work cut out for him. The Giants have scored just 18 points in two games, and the offense has been abysmal. New York has been held to 100 yards rushing in two games and has converted just 2 of 17 third downs.
“It’s a tough situation,” Glennon said. “But I’m ready for the challenge. I’ve been preparing for this my whole life.”
Giants Still Searching For Answers
The Giants are still searching for answers on offense. The offensive line has struggled to protect Jones and Taylor, and the running game has been non-existent.
“We need to find a way to get our offense going,” coach Brian Daboll said. “We’re not doing enough to help our defense. We need to start making some plays and putting points on the board.”
Outlook
The Giants are in a tough spot. They have a lot of injuries, and the offense is struggling. But they have a chance to get back on track against the Bears, who have allowed 109 points in three games.
“We’re not going to make any excuses,” Daboll said. “We need to find a way to win this game.”
