UNLV’s offense was in top form against Wyoming, amassing 492 yards of total offense. Quarterback Doug Brumfield threw for 285 yards and three touchdowns, while running back Christion Anderson rushed for 121 yards and another score. The Rebels’ defense also played its part, forcing two turnovers and holding Wyoming to just 183 yards on the ground.
Next Saturday, UNLV will travel to San Jose State for a battle that will determine the Mountain West West Division champion. The Spartans are currently 10-1 overall and 7-0 in conference play, while the Rebels are 9-2 and 6-1. The winner of this matchup will advance to the Mountain West Championship Game on December 3rd.
A victory over San Jose State would send UNLV to its first Mountain West Championship Game since 2010. The Rebels would then face the Mountain West East Division champion, either San Diego State or Fresno State. A conference title would virtually guarantee UNLV a berth in the College Football Playoffs, which have been expanded to 12 teams this year.
“We’re excited about the opportunity that’s in front of us,” said UNLV head coach Marcus Arroyo. “We’ve come a long way this season, and we’re not going to let anything stand in our way of reaching our goals.”
The path to the Mountain West Championship and College Football Playoffs is now clear for UNLV. The Rebels have proven their mettle with an impressive regular season, and they now have the chance to write their names in school history. Saturday’s showdown with San Jose State will be a defining moment for the program, and the Rebels are poised to seize the opportunity.
